About 250 apartments may be coming to Doral.
Developers placed an item on Wednesday night’s zoning meeting agenda asking that the city approve the rezoning of 10 acres of land — currently a plant nursery — from “general use” to “planned unit development.” The item was ultimately deferred to March’s zoning hearing. The date has yet to be determined.
As traffic becomes more tangled, commercial real estate within 1½ miles of mass transit is seen as more valuable, observers say.
“This is a major shift that’s going to affect everything,” said W. Allen Morris, chairman and CEO of the Allen Morris Company. “Access to all forms of mass transit is very important for both residential urban properties and office space. People want to live and work near transit.”
